MIDI controller workshop with Arduino in Brazilian peripheral communities.

Cajazeiras – Salvador – Bahia – Brasil – 2023

The MIDI controllers workshop with Arduino is one of the training actions carried out in the MetaReciclarte project carried out by Coletivo JACA and Muziek Mutantti. The objective of the workshop is to provide participants with the knowledge necessary to build custom MIDI controllers using the Arduino platform.

The workshop was designed and led by Vagné L. and during this experience, participants learn to program Arduino to read data from sensors and buttons and then use them to control musical devices and software. Custom MIDI controllers allow participants to create and manipulate sounds in real time, adding an additional dimension of expression to their music.

In addition, the workshop also covers topics such as basic electronics, programming logic and circuit design, allowing participants to customize and build their own MIDI controllers according to their specific artistic needs.

The partnership between Muziek Mutantti and Coletivo JACA offers a unique opportunity for participants to learn from experts in music and electronic production, as well as connect with other artists and music producers interested in music technology.

For peripheral communities, where opportunities are often limited, the workshop can play a crucial role in promoting self-expression and strengthening a sense of cultural identity. She encourages participants to share their own stories and experiences through music, building a sense of pride and belonging. Furthermore, by providing technological knowledge, the workshop empowers people to face challenges in their surroundings, such as the lack of access to traditional musical resources.

In summary, the MIDI controller workshop in peripheral Brazilian communities, such as Cajazeiras in Salvador, Bahia, represents an opportunity for empowerment, expression and technological development. It not only enriches the local cultural scene, but also empowers participants to forge new paths in art and life, contributing to a more vibrant and resilient community.
